Thermal Boundary Layer

    hi all.

    I'm curious as to whether you can theoretically work out the thermal boundary layer thickness of a flow over a heated flat-plate.

    freestream velocity is 5m/s
    aluminium flatplate surface temperature is 45c
    plate is 890mm long.
    area of interest is at location x=300mm

    is it possible? I want to find the theoretical thermal bounhdary layer thickness, couple it with the Prandtl number, and hence find the momentum boundary layer thickness.

    I'd have to say yes there is a unique solution, finding it will be the hard part.

    For a laminar flow both of these would be governed by the diffusion equation.

    How good are you on PDE's? :D
