Hey carmadman welcome to the gang :) Maybe remove your exact merit score from above. We don't post exact details about ourselves.

I cant believe how close the scores are and the variation in merit scores. I got 57 in AC and am in 150's. I heard of a girl who scored 59 and she is in first intake. 1 or 2 marks could be the difference between a career or not!!! It's a tough process.

    Well done carmadman.

Thanks unistudent..well done yourself, lets hope it's good enough to get us in:D.
Maybe they use a ouiga board to pick names from the list....lol :confused:

When someone completes all vetting and medicals and are waiting on the call, is the call definitely going to come? Or is there still a good chance that you will be unsuccessful?

Did you pass your medical ?
Do you have anything about you that would make you fail vetting?
Do you know your merit placing?

Its a game of patience, and can take a year or more from start to finish for people.

Medical to be done very shortly, nothing to worry about at all in vetting and 200-210 merit score (non rc). Just wondering if getting through and passing it all means you're in there or are some still unsuccessful?

    Yes ofcourse.
Many are still unsuccessful, even after passing everything else.

Congrats. Can you give us an indication of your merit placing and rc/non rc to give the rest of us an idea?

New to this site, very imformative though. Just got merit number this morning 550 to 600. I'm RC, passed medical but still waiting for vetting to clear although shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone know what merit numbers are being recruited at the moment.

Whichever ones have cleared all stages. Don't forget vetting can take ages for some people who may have the best merit pool numbers, and not so long for others with lower merit pool numbers.

Thanks PSNI. Judging from what I seen on boards for previous campaigns I won't be holding out much hope this time round due to my merit number (550 - 600). I'm glad that I've found this forum for this years campaign, hopefully I can improve my skills from what others have said and learned.

RC people with lower numbers than that from here have gotten in. Dig around and you'll find them.

It's funny nobody has been on having recieved a call today after quite a few yesterday. Seems we'll have to sit tight...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 hotfuzz

Yeah Von C I thought that as well. I havent completely given up hope of getting a call today, but I reckon if it doesn't happen today, it ain't gonna happen for a while!

I was kinda hoping for a call yesterday too, it must be vetting that's holding everything up. I'm so tempted to drop vetting an e mail to see what my status is but I know I'm going to get shouted at so I'll resist the temptation...

Anybody know what the quickest time has been from submitting vetting to getting the call?

I did email vetting almost 2 weeks ago and they told me I'd passed ok. I thought that, together with my merit number in the 30s, would mean I'd be getting a call. This is all very frustrating. CJ4 didn't seem that annoyed that I'd emailed them - they were quite nice!

Found this on the policing board website. Its cited as last may (updated in december) and they write that there are 440 places going for c15.

Maybe they werent sure up until december and thats why i only got my vetting and medical letters in january. I'm non rc with merit score of 200-210 and got a 'wait and see' letter in september but now am back in the hunt again.

Hey evryone. im new here. fully melted waiting on a call, I've passed my medical in November and my vetting at start of January...but ive a pretty poor score in the range of 600 - 650. Im RC. After reading the board i think i should give up on waiting on the call, cus my merit score seems pretty poor
Anyone know when the last intake is for c15?

Definately dont give up hope. Someone who was late 500's got their call on Monday. They have vetted/given you which is a good sign and from what I've read here people with scores in 900's have had calls in previous years!

What does everyone think of this:

    http://new.u.tv/News/Police-jobs-popular-despite-threat/6f0806d6-93fc-490a-b61e-3586dcd959ad

Wonder who their source was on "Last year 9,850 applied to join the service, but just 219 were accepted"

Hmm.. Would be more believable if they said 219 accepted so far.. considering there are still calls going out.

Looks like it'll be another record number applying this campaign anyway! Not great news for all us hopeful's!

Probably another case of the media getting their facts (partially at least ) wrong.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a record number of applications for C16 - economic recession and a Garda recruitment embargo will probably have a bearing.

I would'nt dismiss it so quickly as a mistake.

It could explain why they've started so early this year. To quote Joe Stewart, ''The number of vacancies is determined by our needs. If we do not have enough people who reach our merit standard then we do not appoint and seek to make up any shortfall in the following competition...''

Just because there was nearly 10k applicants last year, by no means does that certify a huge number in the pool of qualified candidates at the end.
Many folk who had'nt done the test before were applying simply because it looked to be a solid job in a very uneasy economy...
