Digital Chorus picture quality

I have the following set up:

white cable going from wall to splitter box
1 white cable into the modem
1 white cable into the back of the satbox. Sagem (not +), service with Chorus/NTL

    32in Sony HD TV

SCART - From the satbox a SCART into the back of the TV. To view this I change the TV to AV1. Here I can view the Chorus service with all channels but the picture quality is not great. It's pixilated and granular, almost like watching an old CRT television. It' not awful, in fact it's the same quality as watching the analogue on the TV; and I wouldn't have necessarily noticed if it was' for the cable.... Info TV is on 101

CABLE - A black cable from the satbox into the back of the TV. To view this I change the TV to digital. So this is auto-tuned from the television remote and menu. A full TV guide is displayed and all the chanels are found; however only a few channels have a picture and a sound. The picture however is perfect, crystal clear. Info TV is on 844; this is definitely a Chorus signal cause I see the InfoTV Chorus fella.

I have called NTL and they don't seem to understand me and keep saying that if I have a picture via aV1 then that is fine. What is the signal on the cable? How can I get the other channels onto the cable.

    Any help is appreciated.

If the picture is good with the cable with tv tuning then it doesnt look like there's any problem with your signal.

Try using a different scart cable and make sure the scrat is not loose in the digi box or your tv.

Your tv has a built in cable tv tuner that is allowing you to see the channels that broadcast without encryption. There is no legal way to view the other channels in that way as you can only use equipment provided by your cable company.

My guess is a scart problem or the STB provided by Chorus is rubbish.

Looking at the SCART connection which uses the TV at the AV1 setting.....

Check the setup menus on the NTL remote, go to Settings/TV Settings and set the Picture Quality to High (RGB).

thanks so much for your replies and answers.

I will go and get a new scart lead, the one I have is a cheap old one but the change of the setting appears to have helped too.

Pity I can't get the fed through the television though cause it seems like a better menu system. Ah well.
    Thanks again!
