Our little one will be 3 in September. We currently live abroad. How does pre school work in ireland. What are the general costs. When do you have sign up? What about primary school, is it still 4 years of age.

Is there any place where you can get general information.

Here's a link to the Galway Childcare Committee. There's an orange bit at the end of the page that has info on the free preschool places which is only starting this month.

As your little one has a September birthday then he/she will more than likely be 5 starting school. My lad has a Sept. 3rd birthday and wasn't allowed start at just 4 years of age which was a good thing. Having 2 children, one now in 2nd year in secondary and the second in 6th class the majority of children in their classes were at least 4.5 years of age starting school. Most were 5 by christmas of the year they started. The maturity difference becomes more obvious as they get older. BTW they don't have to start school until they're 6 years old.
