Fireworks question: How to keep white text/object when exporting as a gif?

    This a fireworks question.

I would like to know how to keep a white object or text from going transparent when i convert/export the image to become a gif.

I just want the surround of the object transparent but any detail within the image ie. whites of the eyes or white text, always goes transparent for me every time.

I have other very time consuming ways around it but i sometimes have to alter the image itself which i don't want to do and I'm sure there is a particular way of doing it.

    Can anyone enlighten me?
