There must be some kind of award for how much depressing **** you can stick in a movie that I'm not aware of.
Heard it was so depressing, the entire cast/crew were given free counselling after. I]citation needed[/I

Cant wait to see Precious, has been getting a decent amount of Oscar buzz about it.

Doubt was a really incredible film. Finished it a couple of hours ago and it was well worth the price of admission, so to speak. The dialog in it was seriously razor sharp. Reminded me of "12 Angry Men" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" strangely enough. I definitely recommend checking it out, the ending alone is worth a watch. It really forces the audience to question stuff.

    Just started Final Destination 4.

Anyone want to recommend some films to me? I have to be up early tomorrow and, considering the ridiculous hour I got up at today, I probably won't get any sleep. Between books, music and general dossing on the internet I'll probably kill the time fine, but I'd like to have some options to fall back on just in case..

What kind do you like? I re-watched fargo there, it's excellent, I don't know anybody (with good taste) who doesn't like it

I haven't seen it! Excellent.. I don't have a "type" of movie I like tbh, I'll watch anything if it sounds decent, regardless of genre! :)

I feel like watching Burn After Reading or The Departed, pending permission for my sister *crosses fingers*

  • Registered Users Posts: 708 ✭✭✭syncosised

They're both decent films, I liked Burn After Reading because it was a bit quirky. Brad Pitt is great in it! The Departed is decent too, but it's a long old haul if I recall.

I had a back-to-back of manly movies last night, Taken followed by Death Sentence. It was my first time seeing the former, I enjoyed it, but it's no match for the latter, my third time seeing it and it's still awesome.

I just watched Shoot 'Em Up with my friend. It was so so awful. So incrediblt ridiculous and over the top. I mean, Clive Owen kills a guy with a carrot at the start. A fúcking carrot! What the crap? It continued in such ridiculous fashion for the rest of the film.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

That sounds class. Who doesn't want to see death by Carrot?! Can I have it Jay P?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,637 ✭✭✭kev_s88

Be my guest! There was so much wrong with that film...the worst part was that Clive Owen actually agreed to star in it... It was like a bad version of Taken, if that's even possible (which it isn't. Liam Neeson is so awesome)

Alas no. This weekend though. I've that and Resevoir Dogs lined up. Should be good! :)

haha at least you're teaming up a good film to go alongside it! you're gonna need the relief of Reservoir Dogs after watching it lol

Shoot 'Em Up is great! If you're expecting any semblance of a story you'll be disappointed, but if all you want is mindless violence and action (yes, please!), then it delivers!

Ok, I found it entertaining, but only because it was so ridiculously ridiculous. Like the part where he jumps out of the plane, which in itself is just stupid, then killing all those guys who somehow manage to catch up to him. They then all land in the same place. And the bit where he's at the fireplace. And let's not forget the bit where he got shot ONCE! One time! And the bullet only grazed him. GOD DAM IT!

To be fair, I don't think the name or cover tried to deceive you into thinking it was anything else! An entertaining way to spend 80 or so minutes, just suspend any and all disbelief!

Well actually, my *ahem* friend, told me that it was really good, as good as Taken even! So now he owes me an hour and a half of my life.

Didn't expect anything too serious myself, just didn't enjoy it at all!
