    Hi,
I live in an area served by MMDS with UPC at the moment. I've used this service in the past but wasn't impressed. There was no PVR solution available at that stage (I'm not sure if that's changed).

I've been reading about the new HD service available and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to check what services are available in what areas?

I'm using sky+ at present but I'd like to know if there is any better alternative.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    In my opinion: No

If you really need (or want HD) get a second-hand Sky+HD box from somewhere else or even get one of the subsidised boxes directly from Sky...

chorus salesgirl told me its unlikely they will ever be able to provide the pvr or HD on the ex Chorus mmds network yesterday when i rang. if you are in ntl mmds area they might be able to.

Thanks for the replies folks. I had a feeling the features wouldn't be available on the ex-chorus network. When I was on the service I wasn't too impressed with it and the lure of the PVR pushed me to sky.

I'll probably just stick with what I have, not that pushed on the HD service but it's always worth having a trawl to see what's available.

    Thanks again.

Try here, then click Availability to see what options are available, but it does sound like you might be out of luck.

The HD DVR package is pretty good. The DVR is very handy (I don't use the pause & rewind much, but recording is useful). The programme guide is a hell of a lot better than on the old boxes.

There are 140-150 channels (obviously dependant on the package), but only 10 HD channels. Most of the HD channels are documentary (Discovery, National Geographic etc), but also BBC HD and a couple of sports channels Eurosport HD & ESPN HD. Note - even on the HD channels, not all the content is necessarily HD. Eurosport in particular seems to show a lot of SD programmes.

    Thanks for that. Results are:

    Digital Television available
    Broadband No
    Home Phone No
    Digital+ HD No
    Digital+ No

Not the most useful but at least I know where it stands. Twas worth a try...
