Nothing really important, just something that bugs me a bit.

Why does Crtl + t not work in Ubuntu when you have a flash video open on the page? I can never open a new tab through the shortcuts when viewing youtube for example.

Yep, as others have said this is because the flash video steals the focus of the keyboard. So, when you press a key it sends it to the flash video instead of the browser.

This feature comes in handy too, however, as on a site like youtube, you can often use the up or down key to adjust the volume of a video instead of moving the entire page.

Flash and other objects (form fields, applets) are actually displayed on the desktop and a 'hole' is made in the browser through which they are displayed. This is true for Windows, not sure about *nix (been a while). Perhaps this has some bearing on the focus theft, anybody???
