Oh my God, that is amazing!!!!

I see BAW459 from Madrid to Heathrow flying towards Edinburgh! And BAW238 from Boston to Heathrow seems to be going around in circles at South Shields! Heathrow must be only allowing planes to land with very long gaps in between (there's probably a term for that!). Hope these planes don't run out of fuel!

They had flown from Istanbul so probably wouldn't have had excessive reserves, had DUB closed again before they got down. If they were among the first to divert to SNN they would have been ahead of the rush there as well.

The Turkish 737 had been holding northwest of Dublin for over an hour after its 4.5 hour flight from Istanbul.
He only opted to divert to Shannon when ATC could not give a definite estimate on when runway 10 would re-open following the initial de-icing.

Of course as soon as he diverted the de-icing was completed but only a few aircraft managed to land after that before the runway was again closed due to very poor braking reports.

Dublin traffic has been landing runway 34 the last few nights as work is being carried out on 10/28. That brings traffic in over Dublin Bay.

Theres a good plug in for google earth that tracks flights using ADS-B.

    http://ei7dar.com/aircraft.html

Similar one also for tracking boat movement around the Irish coast.

The green dots are receiving stations that are online, the orange ones are offline.

Surely at this time of night there would be swarms of traffic Over North Eastern Canada about to cross the atlantic.

And why doesnt it show any of the USA traffic. There is only like 30 planes showing now over USA. I can guaranteee at least 1000 more would be in the sky right now!!!

If you zoom in you'll see that there are only a handful of antennae in the US (green dots), so the planes you see are within around 100 miles of each of them. There are no antennae near the Atlantic
