If you've nothing else to work on over the next month?

You're actually probably okay, especially considering how they've reduced the number of papers this year.

Though I would recommend starting earlier. (Not that I have, but I have the benefit of a huge amount of notes from last year, and the excuse of a ridiculous number of essays.)

Who are all ye bess students sitting schols? We're all in the same year, but none of use really know each other.

It's starting to really ramp up now, what with sample papers and that being given out. I'm not sure how I feel about doing pretty much solely essay-based schol papers (or that the business and politics papers are on the same day :( ) But sure, we'll see how it goes!

Well I've never really put in any effort in college, got into second year no problem and I got 30, 46, and missed the last one in the mid term tests.

But these results are with not opening the book, so I'm gonna ramp up the study to 8ish hours a day over the break and I think I can definitely get them. My worst ones:stats and economics arent even on my schols so it's all good.

    Hmmm. Maybe. Good luck.

The library not being open all the time is really pissing me off now. I was in until it closed at 4pm today, and then had to go home and totally fail at studying there. I know I shouldn't blame the library for my tendency to get distracted at home, but my god why can't it stay open more. : (

The fact that it's closed so much over the Christmas break is also really annoying.

I have only started studying really in the past week for the BESS exams in Business and Politics, does anyone know if I've given myself enough time or will it be a disaster considering there's only a month to go? Will I cover enough material with a hectic study schedule?

I've never understood people asking this question. Some people will get schols on a week's work, others will require 3/4 months. You're the only one who knows how much work you need to do.

Yeh that's completely true, some people study much mre "efficiently" also, so they can get done in a week, what others will do in a month.

I presume it was, but I don't know where it is. I'm going to find this out tomorrow...

Never been to the Ussher before... It'll be an expedition. >.>

Actually, see how the library is allegedly open tomorrow... does this include the Hamilton?

Ah, the Ussher is lovely. Definitely my favourite study area.

AFAIK the Hamilton is open tomorrow, someone told me they heard counter services might not be available though? Doesn't really make sense to me...

Yay for special borrowing privileges over the Christmas break for Schol!

...on the downside, now I need to figure out what 8 books I can't live without, study-wise, over the break. And lug them home.

I've gone ahead and gone home without taking out any books, I was in a rush...

I have most of my textbooks, hopefully google books and wexford library will save the day...

What course are you doing mate?

Boo for people hiding books in the library. :/ Thankfully my local library RANDOMLY happened to have the thermodynamics book I sorely need.

I'm ill, horribly ill, too ill to get out of bed much less study sort of ill. This is precisely the opposite of what I need right now...

Just saw that email about the exams. "Expected to go ahead". Hmm, covering their bases?

I think it rests on Dublin Bus to be honest. No buses = no exams. And if what's forecasted for Sunday night happens, then there's a high chance they'll have to postpone Monday at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

Urgh I hope they don't postpone Monday, I want Tuesday to study... also I'm sure it'd be timetabling nightmare, considering people with exams on Tuesday, and if they made it on the weekend so help me god I would not be happy.

That said, if Dublin bus completely cancel their services, I'd rather sit a postponed exam than miss it...

This. Exactly. People have prepared for AGES for these exams, and to postpone the day before is just unacceptable. I've just listened to a Met Eireann forecast, and they've revised their initial predictions: snow is not expected to fall in Dublin, mainly in Munster.

    Argh! I'm sickened! :(

Had a lovely strecth of one exam Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Pretty much a day of solid study before the first three and two days before the last one.

Chances are now that monday's exam will be shoved in somewhere else. I'm praying thursday, but I just know it's going to disrupt the whole pattern. Really does make a difference to your study schedule and whole week set up.

What's worse is the let down feeling. After pretty much four months of solid study and hard work, I want to do these exams now. I (and I'm sure a lot of people) feel as ready as they will be, and unless tomorrow's exams are put off until next week, we haven't gained anything, nothing more than a disadvantageous re-shuffle of the exams.

I just want to do them at this stage! Wonder what the chances are of tuesday's exams being called off? National schools etc are closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, right?

    Argh!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 360 ✭✭d93c2inhxfok4y

Actually, what am I talking about, lectures start next week! Going to be a heavily loaded week this week then. These exams will surely have to go ahead this week, can't see them having any next week when lectures are back on.

    Mega-argh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

They could potentially move Monday to Saturday I guess, or they could intimately rejig it, taking into account when everyone has gaps. Tuesday would be ideal for me... I just want to get this particular exam over and done with so I can worry about the other ones. God damn you snow!
