Silvercrest 2 in 1 portable dvd player in Lidl

Only €99.99. Available from 12 December. Anyone know anything about it? Are Silvercrest a decent make? I usually stay away from electrical goods in Lidl but this seems to be a good bargain.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any product reviews on the net.

Lidl's Customer Service is actually brilliant. They will replace or refund with no hassle, should a problem occur.

Argos do one for about €79. Ours got a bit of a bang (which portable devices will occasionally) and the LCD screen became dislodged. I had to take the thing apart and fix it back. It was held in place with a tiny plastic tab which had snapped. Although it works fine now. I'd go with Lidl over Argos.

EDIT: Looking at the spec on the Lidl one, it's WAY better than the Argos one for an extra 20 quid.

I would go with lidl too, great customer and good quality products.

Yes, there is a USB slot in it. Plays Divx too which is great. Overall, compatibility seems to be very good.

I have a different model Silvercrest which claims to support USB storage of up to 2GB. I have used 4GB USB keys and a 20GB mini-HDD no problem, but it won't read anything bigger.

It plays AVI DIVX files reasonably well but no MP4 / H264 etc. Some AVIs freeze after about 15 mins. Interface isn't great (just a file browser).

On the plus side, most Silvercrest products have good connectivity options - they make a great portable screen for a dedicated media player like a Western Digital TV player.

I think one of the major benefits of the lidl one over Argos is it has a TV tuner. I'm hoping to pick one up anyway.

I got a generic brand one in asda for £50 last week, works perfectly and no problems with ti so far anyway.

Did anyone buy one ? My wife was at the Lidl in Doughiska in Galway this morning at 8.05am, she just managed to get the last one but when i tried it out later in the day, sound alright but no picture. Brought it back and got the money back.

I'm disappointed. Anyone similar problems with them ? BTW they only had 4-6 of the units in that store, bloody ridiculous

Got one of these last week. No problems comes with remote control.

Good picture quality can hook external video cameras to use as a location monitor.

Speakers are average much better quality with headphones.
For 100 euros its a bargain.

I actually bought one in Dunnes today myself. It doesn't look the same as the one in the link though, it's an Olaf & Ludwig one. Reads USB & SD and plays Divx as well. It doesn't come with a cigarette charger though.

I find it does the job great. You can put .avi's onto a DVD (Approx 7 movies) or a USB key (Depends on Key size). Battery Life is only 2 hours , but I use it mostly in the car so it's not that important to me as it is plugged in to Cigarette lighter

Sorry , forgot to say , as poster above said , put UK as country and REP123 as the postcode . Came to 59.98stg inc Delivery and xtra VAT :mad:
Ordered mine in Jan and it arrived 2 days later.
