What are peoples opinions on dropping Rooney for Torres now that he is fit again ? Rooney doesnt have many more points than Torres, which is surprising since he has played a lot more games.

You have to consider the fact that Liverpool are playing quite badly. Will Torres be getting the kind of service Rooney does?

I'm also considering this. It will be an eenie meenie decision saturday morning

Liverpool will turn it around though, its just a matter of when. They are going to hammer someone soon, and Torres is going to be amongst the goals when they do. Could well be Wigan on Wednesday.

Also, with Gerrard, Torres, Johnson, Aquilani and Aurelio coming back to fitness, I think we will see a different Liverpool over Christmas.

Only thing holding me back is that Man United have slightly better fixtures over the next 5 games than Liverpool.

Liverpool have a handy run of fixtures coming up, next 7 or so games are all easy enough. United do too, but Rooney's always been too patchy for my liking. He'll be amazing for 5-6 games and then do very little for a month or so. Maybe that's changed this season but I'd rather go with Torres.

Yeah. **** it, I'll go for it so.

Heres my team for Wednesday. Had to drop Sorenson, Shawcross and Dempsey as they arent playing.

Personally, I'd get rid of Kuyt. Ok he scored 2 in 3 but is having a very underwhelming season. You could easily downgrade him to Bowyer or Reid and upgrade Adebayor to Drogs/Torres

thanks is kinda along the lines of what im thinking although tbh only got Kuyt a few weeks ago so he has been good for me. Dont wanna not be picking Drogba but i think ill go for Torres due to the looming ANC and the fact that Torres scores so consistantley i mean he is still up near the top forward points scorers despite having missed so much of the season. Might leave me enough cash to upgrade aa defender the next week also.

    Queue a Rooney hat-trick :P

Another thing to think about - I think once Torres gets a couple of goals everyone will buy him and his price will go up. Might be a good time to get him in before that happens.

I would bang my head against the wall. If I was really brave, Id stick Torres as captain!

I think Giggs is a doubt for the next game...need to check that.

The Times is saying that Giggs is a doubt for Tuesday.

Anyone heard anything about Dunn being fit for Blackburn tomorrow?

I need to get rid of the disaster that is James Beattie. He has never got going this season and the headbutt incident was the final nail. I can spend up to 7mil, though ideally I'd like to save some of that money to improve other departments.

I'm looking at Klasnic at the moment. Bolton have 4 easy games coming up and cruciallly are playing in the midweek gameweek, but I'm not convinced its the right move. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Saha or Rodadellega would be the obvious choices for around or just under the 7m mark imo and i wouldent get a bolton player simply cos i have no faith in bolton players at all or bolton as a team in general

Even though I had a great week I've gone for the wildcard. Had some dead wood like Jaaskelainen and Noble that had to go. Ended up with the squad below with .4 mil change. Any thoughts?

    I have Rodallega already:pac:

If I knew Saha would stay fit he'd be straight in, problem is I can just imagine him getting injured again. Everton also don't have a match this GW, but they do seem to be putting a little bit of form together.

Looks ok, but after the Blackburn game Birmingham have quite a tricky spell of fixtures coming up that includes Chelsea twice in the space of 7 matches, so if its not too late I'd consider taking out at least one of them. its a tough call though because their players have been scoring very well in recent weeks.

Yeah I had noticed that. Roger Johnson will be the guy dropping out for some other random defender. He's only in because Birmingham are at home in this game week, and Sorensen can just share keeping duties with Hart.

Looks good Xavi - only worry would be 3 Birmingham players. I think Zayatte is cheap alternative in defense

Not a bad shout. I'm trying to field an XI for this week with my entire bench absent and Zayatte has no fixture either but might look at him for the weekend.

I almost forgot about the midweek fixtures.

Am I right in saying the absent teams are Hull, Fulham, Stoke and Everton?

    Agbonlahor / Torres / Rooney

    Atm i have 3 mil in the bank, a front line of;

    Agbonlahor - Bent - Drogba

Agbonlahor's been playing well and in consistent form, Rooney not so much.

But utd's fixtures are very nice in the coming weeks.

I don't want to put the 3 mill anywhere else, but at the same time im kinda happy with Agbonlahor.

Any stong arguments for Rooney/Torres (other than Torres being one of the best strikers in Europe!), i just feel Rooney scores in fits and starts and Liverpool are trunks atm.

    Any opinions on this?

Really feel dodgy about my midfield. I need to drop Dempsey as I have a few players not playing this week, and he has a couple of tough games coming up.

Its like that situation I had earlier in the season when Gerrard got injured, used the extra money to upgrade to both Kuyt and Arshavin who got me feck all points, and cost me (1 transfer to get them in) and 2 transfers to get rid.. 12 points I really could do with now! Its tight at the top of all my leagues.

I'd be delighted if i could stay in the boards.ie top 40

it looks good to me, I'd leave it alone for now

my line up for the mid-week

    1: Friedel

    2: Dunne 3: Ivanovic 4: Cole A

    5: Fletcher 6: Bowyer 7: Fabregas 8: Reid

    9: Rooney 10: Drogba(C) 11: Defoe

To be honest, I'd keep Gabby, Bent and Drogba for now. Rooney is hit and miss as regards scoring, Agbonlahor can be the same at times (but a lot more hit than miss at the moment - and way cheaper).

    Whats your full team?

I thought I had a pretty good team but something has gone horribly wrong the last two weeks with Chelsea's defense. Don't know what to do!
I have two free transfers and 1.3 mil in the bank, what should I do?!

I hope ye can see that...if not, try this. http://www.flickr.com/photos/35838086@N05/4184685309/

Seeing as Van Persie is out for Arsenal, Fabregas is less likely to get a lot of points. Arsenal's gameplan appears to be Arshavin as their main goal threat. Should I bring him in?

Well, to be fair, City away is a tough game, and Everton were good enough for a European spot last year, so they weren't the easiest of games.

I'd get rid of Carvalho and McFadden. Get in maybe Michael Turner and Darren Bent, if you can afford that. Then long term get in a different defender when they get past the hard games.

Tough to pick a defender now...

    Any opinions on this?

I just sold Rooney and replaced him with Torres. I posted my logic for this on another forum. In your case, I would sell Gabby and buy Torres.
Rooney has scored 5.5 points per game, on average.

Torres has scored 6.8 points per game, on average.

Rooney only has 13 points more, despite Torres being out for a good portion of the season. I think Liverpool may well go on a run over Christmas. They have a good run of games (as do United) and most of their injury problems are over. When Gerrard and Torres play together, they score a lot of goals.

In regards to Rooney, he has scored 4 goals in his last 3 games. But he usually performs in spirts. He went 3 games without a goal, assist, or bonus point not too long ago for example.

It was a tough decision and it may well bite me in the arse, but I had to find a way to make up some ground.

On the whole Rooney v Torres thing

Rooney has played 1283 and scored 88 points.
For every 90 mins Rooney plays he scores 6.17 points

Torres has played 904 and scored 75 points.
For every 90 mins Torres plays he scores 7.47 points

    Rooney is currently 11.5
    Torres is currently 11.4

Utd's next three games are against Wolves (h), Fulham (a) and Hull (a)
Liverpool's next three games are against Wigan (h), Portsmouth (a) and Wolves (h).

Also Rooney is on 4 yellow cards and will face a one match ban if he picks up another yellow before 31st Dec. Torres has one yellow card.

    Torres every time for me.

This is all very true, but form counts for a lot. Liverpool are struggling big time, and all the players seem to be low on confidence. Even Stevie G isn't really doing the business which is incredibly unusual, so I don't think all is right at the club. Then theres the question is Torres is really 100% after just coming back.

Having said that, they'll have to turn a corner at some point. If they can give Wigan a good hiding, then it could be worth looking at Torres with the confidence back. Otherwise, I'll be sticking with Rooney for the moment.

Gerrard is only back 2 or 3 games, Torres is back 2 games (1 as sub). So I think we will start to see the best of them over the Christmas period. When they play together, it always results in goals.

Liverpool have been scoring goals this season, even when playing poorly. Most of their problems are in defense. Thats why Ive gone for Torres anyway.

I wouldn't have Torres in my team for the simple fact I don't trust his fitness record. If I thought he would stay the course I would have him but I always think it's just a matter of time before he faces some sort of lay-off.

I've jumped on the Drogba bandwagon. I don't like the guy and tried hard not to have him but it's apparent he's this year's Ronaldo.
