Fire Service Cuts in Budget

Overall funding from government will be down 10% in 2010. That will mean less new fire engines, equipment, station replacements, etc.

On the other hand, the Tidy Town Competition receives the same funding as 2009, no cuts.

Next house fire or RTA spend your time admiring the nice flower beds that Mary and Joan put in because your local fire service will take longer to respond in their clapped out, or imported 2nd hand from the UK, fire engine.

€2m less in 2010 estimate than the 2009 estimate for the capital expenditure program. Was all the €20m estimated for capital expenditure allocated, do you know?
