well my local TD got some info from HSE stating current plan is for another 24 in March, and another 24 in September 2010. However it could change. I hope so. dont think i can stay sane untill September

I know the feeling!!!! I'm still clinging on to the hope that the campaign will start in november lol..... With the AP's rolling out as we speak things might change a bit faster. I know that some of the lads from the last campaign are still awaiting dates etc..

Hi all, if a class is starting in March and they give 8 weeks notice, letters should be out sometime in January ! so hopefully after christmas we should start hearing something on next class. also anyone here that made the panel but have decided not to go ahead ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭DUBDUBDUB

    HI Emer Tech,

Good to see a few of us are still on this thread. If you are only out by 2 or 3 I think you would have to be VERY unlucky not to get in. Some people (might happen to me or you also!) will have underlying medical issues, fail background check, references etc. Law of averages means I woul say you are a safe bet for March if class size is 24.
You deserve it! you have done a lot of work, keep the faith, it will happen for you.

    Well DUBDUBDUB,
Looks like its just you and me !! Where did everybody go ????? maybe we ll have to start a new thread, instead of " HSE INTERVIEWS" maybe we should have HSE PANEL or something ....

best bet would be to ring manorhamilton and have a chat with one of the girls in the national projects office, they'd be the best informed to answer your question polly23

    Hello Polly,

Dont take this as Gospel but as far as i have heard there is going to be a requirement for leaving cert. To get a better idea you should try calling the training school in Galway or Phoenix park. They are the guys on the ground and should at least be able to give you an inkling.

Rumour has it that the budget is gonna bring in a temporary lifting of the recruitment freeze. Who knows the campaign may start sooner than you think. Also hears that the next round is gonna require a leaving cert as well as driver CPC course. Just a heads up :)

Im hoping to complete the emt training with the IATI in Jan but have to secure funding first :(

Certain drivers are exempt from CPC training; can you give me examples of who is exempt?
Drivers of vehicles for non-commercial purposes e.g. driving as a volunteer; drivers of emergency or
rescue vehicles; drivers of vehicles while delivering driving instruction; drivers of vehicles used by a
driver in the course of his/her work provided the vehicle is not the drivers principal occupation.
Took this from th RSA website with regards to the CPC

Probably should have checked that one out for myself!!!!

Hi, One thing, you dont have to have your CPC done to be able to do the driving test for C1 and D1, because of the fact listed above.

I had to check it out when I was going for my lessons only reason why I knew for sure you didn't have to do the CPC some driving instructors are trying to convince you that you need to do the CPC.

Never believe a salesman, instructors are less than objective as they see you as a walking euro sign. Got some very bad advice from cpc instructor lately regarding my own workplace obligations, if you have a question go to RSA, very good.

No harm for any driver to partake of cpc training if they can persuade someone else to pay for it.

Alright folks, the 7th Para class started on the 5th October '09 and their part 1 exams are 15 weeks later on the 19th Jan 2010. According to the PHECC exam calender the 8th Para part 1 exams are on the 19th July 2010. Going back 15 weeks from this date puts the next class starting on the 5th April 2010. I'd rather a sooner start date but there it is. Does anyone know if the budget will effect the NASC in any way?

dont want to burst anyones bubble or anything but rumor has it that the current panel is being disbanded. seemingly the hse have investigated the legal implications of such a move. it also seems they will recruit a fresh panel this year with leaving cert required. sorry to be the bearer of bad news guys. (this came from a senior ambulance officer by the way)

I dont know about that murf but its possible. I spoke to Manorhamilton today and they said they have no information regarding the current panel, disbanding of the panel, leaving cert, etc. The only thing they would say is that if there was a class starting in early 2010, they should know by now.

If it is disbanded, i dont know how it would work for those of us on the panel with leaving cert? Surely doesnt make any sense to reinterview us? or is the only way round it to disband all the panel and make us all reapply?

Nothing would surprise me though. They probably would waste more money on another recruitment campaign despite having a perfectlly good panel ready and waiting. It is not the fault of HR, or the training school but the fault of middle management monkeys. Focus groups, blue sky thinking, think outside the box blah, blah, blah. We all know ones like them

I think IF it occurs I will be physically sick, followed by experiencing unbounded fury at the pointlessness of it all. Will then contact local TD, then contact media to make them aware of the tremendous waste of cash, then look into the legal implications myself (through a lawyer) and i would advise all others on the panel to do the same.

I have been out of work too long to let it go easily

    Merry Christmas all!

Speaking as someone who could potentially capitalise on this situation, I would suggest that you and your comrades act now as if theres any truth in these rumours, disbandment will soon follow. I for one cant wait to get a second bite of the cherry but it would be a hollow victory in these circumstances.

Send your TD a list of all your family members and friends who have a vote and threaten his/her future in politics. The next election could be very very soon. At the very least your politicians should be able to elicit an answer as to what is going to happen.

    Best of luck with it.

its a **** situation alright, i have a good friend who should be in the next class. i had hassle with the leaving cert thing and went to a solicitor but i had been offered a place in the class with a start date and done all the medicals etc. even then the solicitor said i didnt stand much of a chance if they refused me. i dont think you guys will stand a chance because technically they can disband a panel whenever they feel the have enough stundents  i dont see how a TD will make any difference to the HSE cancelling a panel though! hopefully they wont go ahead with it as it does seem like such a waste. i have heard it from two different sources though.

I did go off on a bit of a rant there so apologies all, but am very, very frustrated at being out of work and the thought of another kick in the teeth is not appealing to me or my family.
I also severely doubt the TD could do anything but get an answer as to wether or not its going to happen. I would like my TD to jump all over it as another money waste on already overstretched HSE.
Wastefulness seems to be something that the organisation and indeed the government has totally mastered over the years so again, i would not be surprised. Even if it occurs in these challenging times.

If it happens, it happens. I will apply again, try my hardest and hopefully come in higher on the panel, if not, I will shoot myself. (only joking, i think)

As for comrades, wexfordj, me and my comrades would be a bit bitter after coming so close and not getting in. Could you imagine the guy/girl at number 25/ 26 , he just misses out because of a ridiculous and costly decision. I am a much lower on the panel so overall, didnt do well enough, but if i was in his/her shoes, i would be gutted beyond belief

From a media point of view i dont see how they could pull this off unless their next recruitment drive is for the position of EMT for transfers. It would be professional suicide for all involved.

As i said previously, i would hate to see anyone get shafted after getting this far.

Ok this is the HSE we're talking about here!!! They make their own rules as and when they please.

Hopefully they will keep the current panel and start recruitment early next year (After I have my EMT course completed :)
