im looking for a sheet of aluminium to make a sump guard for a rally car.any clue on where id buy it down in cork

Try Miko Metals in Ballycurreen ,turn left at bull Mc Cabes pub on the road to the airport. They carry a lot of aluminium in sheets and profiles, maybe not the cheapest though

I suggest you give Impact Metals a call on 021 4866326. They're in Brooklodge, Glanmire last time I was dealing with them. Nic people too. Failing them just check the Golden Pages for suppliers. Shortts Stainless do aluminium also I think.
