    Hello all

I was wondering if anyone knows what the small cylinders you get on
usb cables and monitor cable are for.

These are usually towards one end of the cable.

I opened one with a pliers at the weekend, and all there is inside
it is a metal cylinder, like a magnet but it does not appear to be magnetic.

So what are they needed for?

    Thanks

    Barney
