    Hi all,

So I bought myself a 16GB 3GS locked to o2 a few days ago.. Downloaded blackra1n and jailbreaked it and ran unlocked it.. everything worked perfect.. put my 3 sim in and away i went.. I also installed Cydia from the blackra1n menu on the phone. I didn't open Cydia until yesterday and was prompted to update some Cydia software straight away.. It is trying to download OpenSSL but keeps on timing out. I am getting the following message:

    http://apt.saurik.com
    POSIX: Operation timed out
bottom of scren says 'downloading OpenSSL'

i hit ok and get the following

    http://apt.saurik.com
    POSIX: Operation timed out
bottom of scren says 'downloading diskdev-cmdsL'

i hit ok and get the following

    http://apt.saurik.com
    POSIX: Operation timed out
bottom of scren says 'downloading Cydia Installer'

i hit ok and get the following

    POSIX: Operation timed out
bottom of scren says 'downloading Cydia Installer'

i hit ok and get the following

    POSIX: Operation timed out
bottom of scren says 'downloading Cydia Installer'

i hit ok and get the following

    POSIX: Operation timed out
bottom of scren says 'downloading Cydia Installer'

then it goes back to the 'Essential Upgrade' screen giving me options to do

    Upgrade Essential
    Complete Upgrade
    Ignore (temporary)

I have tried all upgrade option above and get the same errors

Any ideas... this is my first iphone and so only have a few days experience with using it..

Thanks in advance for your help.

Try updating using a Wifi connection, this often helps if your 3G connection is too slow.

Try installing the upgrade of cydia first. When thats done, itll restart cydia, open cydia again and upgrade

Have you tried using Rock instead? Cydia gives me too many errors.

If your jb with blackra1n do not use cydia & rock together . One or the other

What do people think of icy over cydia? Have both installed but never use icey. Which one would you recomend and is alright if i have them both installed? Sorry OP dont mean to steel your thread.

rock has its merits, its faster over cydia and looks better, icy very flawed i think, gives alot of errors imo, but i stick with cydia fairly reliable

I think the icy devs have left the iphone scene. Could be wrong though

ICY is DEAD , forget about it !

The team behind it ( http://ripdev.com/) have ceased operations .
If no one takes up their ICY project I would not even bother with it.
