Why do people let themselves go

If anyone is brave enough to admit they are one of these people, I would appreciate your explanations. Everyone, men and women alike, likes attractive people - surely your quality of life is so much better when you are good looking. So why give up on it?

If you're one of those people unfortunate enough to be born ugly, then fair enough, there's nothing you could really do about it...

But I can't understand people who had it going on, and then just went to pot. TBH it's usually a massive weight gain

There seems to be two key points in time when a person is at risk of letting themselves go:
-on the transition from teenager to adult
-on entering a full, committed relationship/or being ejected out of same

Let's be honest, any of us who has caught up with friends from the past has surely witnessed this phenomenon.

    So why, people, why??

    Go and troll somewhere else.

I won't let you bait the posters in After Hours.
