Combination of Gimp/Inkscape to do the work of PS/Illustrator

    Is it possible to create an image to this quality - link here - using Gimp and/or Inkscape?

    Used Photoshop/Illustrator in college and now curious to know if I need to fork out on them to keep up with my own personal work or just learn Gimp & Inkscape...I have both programs and have messed about with them but sometimes some straight advice can save a lot of unnecessary time wasting.

    yeah, you could that in Inkscape.

    ...as long as you can draw it by hand and have the proper focus to convert it.
