Dundalk can produce some fantastic nights out, depending on:
    Who you are out with
The crowd that is out that night
    Where you are

Can Also be a cheap enough place for a night out- take good use of the cheap entrance into nightclubs before 12, and 3 euro a drink, and your sorted :D

In Galway you don't have to wait 2 hours for a taxi like you need to in strumpet city.

Good pubs, people, spirit....the best Ireland has to offer.

Looks like it's Dublin V Galway. Dublin has food that isn't Supermacs, so Dublin ftw

You must just have hung around Eyre Square in Galway. What about the Charcoal Grill for the best kebabs?

Dublin is a great night out and there is really no contest, but Galway is also a very fun night out if not a bit limited in choice. Cuba is a great club, but there's no beating Harcourt st. for clubs. Also, Dublin has the Palace which is by far the best night club I've ever been to in Ireland.

Been a while since you've been out in the capital then I take it.

I voted Dublin, but Cork is also a great place to head out. Was there for a weekend during the summer.

I don't mean gay as in the literal sense

    So not Oscar Wilde then?

Galway - pubs in easy staggering distance of each other, some really good eateries, nice atmosphere, friendly and good trad and live music.

Dublin would be number 2 on my list and Belfast third. Nightlife has really come a long way in Belfast but on gripe is that the clubs close too early.:(

2 Of the best nightclubs in the country and serious bars such as scraggs and the barracks and lev's - Its my 1st - Also I have been out ALOT in all the other towns listed. Galway comes in a close 2nd

Worked in both scraggs and the barracks... only place a bird handed me her bra and knickers for a free drink. I kept her knickers and gave her a glass of water :)

Hmmm Limerick not doin so well.....I agree with Galway, nice friendly and the upstairs in Cuba has great music which is unusual for a club. Really don't like Dublin, not as a city, just for going out in. Too big and impersonal and an excess of perverts/weirdos.

Cities in the Republic of Ireland are legally defined[1] by the Local Government Act (2001), with one historic city (Kilkenny, legally a town) permitted[2] continued ceremonial usage

    Kilkenny City then.
Any further doubts ask James 1, pedantor. :pac:
    Legally a town :pac:
And why would I ask a dead English King about an Irish town:confused:

Limerick not doin so well because for going out, its about as much craic as getting your finger nails removed with a pliers. It has huge potential (e.g. the old English Town part and along Clancy Strand/O'Callaghan Strand areas) but until the Corporation properly develop and market said areas, it will remain nothing more than an unattractive stigmatised destination for tourists/visitors.

I voted for Galway - only Kilkenny comes close. Cork's not bad either.

*I'm miffed as to why Derry isn't on the list?? Its a great spot for a night out.

Location and atmosphere have a huge part to play also. Ones perception of a place can have a huge influence on the outcome of the night out, if it is going to be good or bad.

You create the atmosphere, become part of it.
    Location is irrelevant.

I've had great nights out in Dublin, Galway, Cort, Limerick, Belfast, Sligo, Castlebar, Achill, Inis Meain, Clare Island, Craughwell, Kilkenny, Killarney, Portumna, Derry, Letterkenny, etc etc.
The location really didnt matter, the people who were out with me did.

Belfast by a mile, then Galway, then Newry. Navan is a great town to go out in.

    Are you Ray D'arcy?

When it comes to fun, value (lately!) and friendliness Dublin wins hands down. It's a good size accepting city, great people, great atmosphere, big choice of venues, food, etc... Galway and Belfast and Cork are great fun to, but they can't touch Dublin.

Edit... Athlone is great fun lately too...

Sligo is the most under rated City/Town in Ireland.

A huge selection of Pubs and probably the best nightclub in the country. A great spot ofr a weekend of golf or surfing followed by hitting the piss pretty hard.

    Great people and town.

But thats just what I think.
