Maximum RAM for Mid-2007 Macbook

    I have a Macbook from Mid-2007. I want to upgrade the RAM but I am seeing in different places that the maximum RAM it is expandable is 2GB or 4GB (with 3 usable).

    Does anyone know?

    Officially it's 2GB, but 3GB will work - either as 2x2GB -or- 2GB+1GB. It's often recommended that the RAM be paired for optimal performance, so many people will insist that you get 2x2GB. But it's not essential. The benefits of pairing are overstated imo.

    Have a 2006 macbook here and runs fine with 3gb.
