Do I need to update my firmware

    About 2 years ago got the drive on my xbox flashed. Do I need to update the firmware on this to play modern games?

    Yep, iXtreme 1.51 or higher.

    Only by dumping it and opening the file in JungleFlasher or the likes.

    As you say yours is over 2 years old you ar definatly lower than 1.51, which was a released earlyer this year to fix the "wave 3" problem.

    All new games since early 2009 have a extra sector called wave 3. Which will only boot with ixtreme 1.51 +
