Bass Help

Some help please if you will. I recently bought a new Epiphone Thunderbird Bass and the action was too low resulting in a buzzing sound everytime I played it, I was told raising the (thing at the end that the strings go over) would solve the problem, I was also later told that you needed to measure this to within 1/64 of an inch, most rulers or measuring tapes available only seem to go to 1/32 of an inch, Would somewhere like waltons or goodwins sort this out and any ideas on the cost?

Here is a handy link for setting up a bass (see step 3 in your case). A string action gauge is what you need, though the guy here says it can be done by eye or feel. He gives a link as to where you can get one, if no shops here stock them.

The buzzing could also be caused by too much or too little relief in the neck. Read the link slowly, and carefully follow the steps. If you are not confident in what you are doing, then bring it to an expert.

Just raise it(the bridge) really slowly til there is no buzzing no need for a string action gauge. Your bass may need some truss road adjustment too though which is slightly more difficult. I'll second the tunemybass site.
