Electrical interfernce on Panasonic Vierra

    hi,

    Mods if this is not the right place please feel free to move it to a correct one.


    Now to my problem. I have a Panasonic TH-42PV80E4 flat screen TV which I picked up 2nd hand . Whenever either the shower, disk washer or tumble drier are used the screen quality deteriorates badly as severe ghosting bands appear [ no not dead rock stars ;-( ].

    As an aside there is also a noticeable hum which intermittently appears as well.

    I have tried using different power outlets and various combination's of dvd player and vcr with no success.

    has anyone experienced this and if so any solutions out there.

    Does this appear regardless of what you're watching? ie. DVD, aerial/cable, whatever.

    Does it happen when watching DVD's while the aerial cable is pulled out?

    Otherwise, it might be worth considering a mains filter, which supposedly cleanse the incoming electrics.

    Is it earthed correctly?

    You could try a ferrite ring. My Pioneer display came with one on the power cable.

    hi,

    the worst interference occurs when watching tv channels with minor interference while playing dvd's.

    thanks for the suggestions crosstowk but the mains cable is already fitted with a ferrite core ring, byte do you now where i could pick up a mains filter by any chance ?.

    I've checked the earths with a dvm and they are fine

    Maplins have fairly cheap ones or Peats would have Monster mains blocks. They're good for dealing with spikes, surges and dirty mains generally (in hifi terms anything with a motor).
