Brilliant stuff Rusty. None of this hard luck bullsh*t. You done brilliant there and a really well written post. Very inspirational in the 'closing' section.

    +1 to that. Well done.

Well done Rusty honest with yourself and everyone else, what you learned will have you better prepared for it next time and you'll get it for sure. I ran 3.08 in Dublin last week and you are an inspiration to me as I want to go sub 3 next time. Trying to decide at the moment between Belfast in May, Cork in June or leaving it till Dublin in Oct again.

Thanks Cooldog. I hear Belfast is a bit congested (they have a relay within the standard marathon) so I'm not sure it would be my sub 3 choice. Dublin is a long way to wait for 8 mins, maybe give Cork a go or one of the faster European Spring marathons (Rotterdam). Best of luck.

I'm disappointed to take 10,875 seconds to lap a city instead of 10,799 but I'll never be so singular to think that margin defines me or what I've achieved.
    Hi Rusty,

I read your report in the lead-up to DCM and I found the words quoted above very inspirational and a great help on the day.

    Thanks!

Hi guys all's been quite here now for a while, anybody got any marathon's or other races coming up over the festive period or are we all just ticking away in preparation for next year, I bought Pete Pfitzingers advanced marathon second edition recently and will definitely be using it for my next marathon attempt, still trying to decide whether to go with the 55 mile or 70 mile schedule, has anyone else used this?.
