Sign onto your PSN. Go to friends column on the XMB, furthest right. Go to add friends, a yolk will pop up and just ok it. Enter the other persons PSN id and ok that. You should enter a sent message screen. Just send the message or if you want you can enter a message telling the person how you know them. I usually put in boards.ie for users on here just so they know.
