I know a bunch of guys in DCU who rent out a server in Amsterdam between them. They download onto that then http its ass down.

Leaseweb do dedicated servers from €29 per month (If you had 6 people that is a fiver) with reasonable spec. All you need to do is get a bittorrent client up, learn a bit of command line stuff, download your files, and then FTP them. (I wouldn't suggest HTTP because the files show up publically on google etc).*

*N.B - Of course I'm referring to legal torrents here. I wouldn't want anyone doing anything illegal.

If you're into games in any way it is also handy because you can set up your own games servers for any PC shooters and the like. And if you are a real nerd, you can run your IRC chat programs from them.

    Sounds very confusing.

Are there any discussions on boards which shows how to bypass eircoms ban on piratebay? Iv used proxys to access the site but the torrents wont download properly

There's a very easy way, except I can't remember the ip you've to type in to get to the router configuration page. Have a look in the Net/Comms section, there was a thread in it there.

    Renting a server ??? Thats a bit much :p

I use http://www.your-freedom.net works 100% and costs only a fraction of what renting a server would be. If anyone needs a hand setting it up just shout.
