I dont think the people on the bus or luas are laughing. And to the jokers that see the opportunity to crack jokes, god forbid there's no family or relations of yours on board
Actually I'm sure they're trying to have a laugh and make the best of the situation with a bit of quality mood-improving humour. Let's not get all po-faced on that account. If I was stuck in there I'd be having a joke with the other passengers - can't think of anything better to do really, until escape is possible/safe.

When life gives you lemons, make cake, right?

Your point, as valid as it maybe, is flawed!

The flaw being this is after hours... :D

Whatever chance the bus/LUAS passengers have, I really hope there were no pedestrians or cyclists on the road where the LUAS was apparantly dragged along by the bus :(

other sites saying that the Luas driver broke the signal, although I did think this means that the Luas stops automatically, once it goes through a red as such, perhaps it took that long to stop

Why don't we all calm down with the deaths and sources stuff until it's confirmed properly.

Boards is one of the biggest forums in the country and unsubstantiated stuff here will be flying straight off here and on to twitter and email.

I know taking out a granny is 60 points but what does the Luas driver get for an entire bus? :pac:

you left out a couple, for example:

'you wouldnt like it if people made jokes about blah blah bla' (even though if anyone actually cared about that no jokes would ever get made)

    also

'i heard from a friend of a friend of someone whod knows cousin that 300 people died'

    dont think so

I had an experince a few weeks back when the light for me went green and just as I started to move through junction a Luas came trundling through, never stopped automatically or otherwise

You've got to be joking right! The luas is the one piece of infrastructure that works (and works well) in this city.

Anyway - leave your moaning aside, if someone has died in this collision, this is not the time for this argument.

Well as it may be the cause of a death I would hold judgement on how well it works. It will be pretty relevant if it turns out the safety of the design comes into question.

Over budget, flawed track, flawed ticket system more expensive than other proposals that most likely have worked better and cheaper. Just because something works doesn't make it the best

from the pics, it doesn't make sense that the bus broke the red light, because surley the luas driver would have seen this and put on the breaks, and they stop the thing fairly quickly! plus the luas wouldn't have been going fast at that stage..

I'd say it was the bus driving through just as it turned red, and the luas driver wasn't paying attention to stop in time.

It certainly looks like that, as it looks like the tram caught the end of the bus, pushed it out a bit and slid along the side of the bus due to forward momentum. And in fairness the tram should have been going at a fairly slow speed. It looks like the driver of the luas didn't look to his right. I could be wrong.
