CPO for substrata under apartment - Dublin City

I own and apartment in a development in Dublin city that will have the new city metro line (presume it's the "Interconnector/DART Underground" part?) passing underneath. Got a letter on Friday (don't have it to hand but believe it was from the RPA) informing me that they are implementing a CPO for substrata underneath our building. Our apartment is ground floor and is above an underground carpark in which we own a space.

There's an open evening for further information next weekend which I'm going to attend but I just wanted to see if any Boardsies could shed any light on what's involved before then?

Pretty much, I'm trying to determine the Dos and Don'ts of dealing with a CPO of this nature and also hoping to get an idea as to how the purchase price is calculated, out of sheer nosiness.

The CPO is for substrata. You get nothing. There is no "price" as such for land under the ground. The CPO is for the space well below your building. Basically, the letter is to inform you that they will be building (most likely a tunnel) below you.

You would have recourse if there are faults due to their building (such as happened in Marino when the port tunnel was built). Otherwise, it's just a forum for discussion and just information for you.

Thanks Paulw, was hoping the "P" in "CPO" would bring a bit of good news, for a change

The letter did indicate that we can have a free independent engineers' assessment carried out before the work begins in case we notice any damage after the tunnel has been built so going to take them up on that.

There has to be some consideration given but it might only be a euro ad then it would be to the landowner, not you, i.e. the Management company.
