Would you call your child Damien?

I never thought I would be asking myself this question.

We're expecting our second child in December & we dont know if it's going to be a boy or a girl.

Anywho? A the early stage of pregnancy myself & Mrs Whosbetter? started discussing names & we jokingly said 'Let's call it Damien', as a laugh.

As time went on we slowly came round to the idea that it's a nice name after all (despite all the Omen connotations).

I know that this is AH & there will be loads of 'pisstake' answers to this, but here goes.

    Would you?

    No.

Nothing to do with the Omen connotations, it's just a crap name.

Damien is not so bad, is it?

You have to think of all the abbreviations of a name too.

Worst I can think of is Damo.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Go for it if you both like the name.

    b) Ooo, the Omen, ooo!

If you like it, go for it. Who gives a toss about the Omen? Not my favourite name in the world, so a no from me.

    I see your point.:D

I think the name works well if your surname begins with D, as ours does.

There was kid called damien in my class in primary school. none of us had any idea what the omen was until at least 6th class so he never suffered.

unless your worried about him actually being a demon...

Well you don't want to give your child a bad start in life.

We know that the name has a bit of a bad vibe about it & we're not totally socially unaware.

Hence this thread, just to see what people think.:)

    That's true.

I just thought of something else.
I'd never have to buy a Guard dog.
If robbers broke in, I'd just go to little Damian's room & let loose all the Rothweilers that he mysteriously summens up!:D

if you do call him damien just dont hire a nanny. :D
or just keep your windows locked at all times

    And Damo Dempsey :)

I think that whole Damien/Omen thing has faded away by now. It's not really a popular and shocking film by todays standards
