I'm looking to get a new guitar soon but need a bit of advice. I've been playing a Squier strat for about 4/5 years but I want to get in a band and gigging soon so am looking for something better. I was looking at the Ibanez RG350, because I want something that I can afford but still has a good spec. I need a locking bridge and I'm unsure as to what neck to get. I've been playing maple for years so I don't want to get a rosewood and not like it. Would be great if I could get a maple and buy a replacement rosewood neck down the line and swap them, but I don't know if this can be done.

I've been advised to look around for a good used guitar, but after a good hunt on the net I haven't seen quite what I was looking for in my budget. Was recommended to look for a Charvel So Cal and Fotoflame Strat among others, and this would be the type of used guitar I'd be looking for.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

These are what I'm thinking of so far http://www.thomann.de/ie/ibanez_rg350m_bk.htm

Used or new I'm looking for-

Strat-ish shape (open to other suggestions though)
    Locking tremolo
Easily adaptable for pickup changes etc.
Ideally a neck that could be replaced although I'm not too pushed if it can't
    Price max of around €450-€500

If a neck is bolt on you can absolutely change them over, but not willy nilly. Alot of setting up to do if you were changing em back and forth.

My recommendation though is to go out and jam on a load of rosewood fretboards and it'll become pretty obvious if it feels right for you. I have a maple fret board on my Japan Squier Tele and it feels great but I know that for me I still prefer rosewood.

Super Strat wise I liked the look of these on adverts

Might be a bit dear but bar the Ibanez you have already flagged this is all I can think of 2nd hand at the mo

Keep an eye out on adverts for an Ibanez. For €500 you could probably pick up a Prestige model second hand.

    What about the Cort X6?
