    Hi All,
I also made it on to this years panel.
I have been following the updates posted.
Here is some other bits Iv heared over the past few weeks.

The Lead AP of our area reckons that all of the panel will be used he said there is about 90 on the panel and all going well will be starting training before the end of the 12 months.

Also his officer in ambulance control said the same would also happen. he also said a new panel would be formed next year.
a mass of paramedics are needed to go ahead with changes in the hospital structure , ie closing of many rural A&Es.

I also spoke to a person who turned down last years panel. he was contacted by Manorhamilton to inform him he was on the top of this years panel and that his clearnace had gone through.
HE then checked this with another person who turned it down last year, the same happened with him. Both have TURNED it Down again this year.

Has Anyone else heard of anything since your last posts on boards.ie?

Bad mistake on his part to keep turning down the offer. Bear in mind that with the new training, you'll be on trainee's wages for two years. If he had started his training last yr, he would be down nearly a full year if not more at this stage. I wonder does he really want to be a paramedic????????

In the info booklet it stated just under 30k , but now you have the levies on top of that.( income and pension levies i think )

My appeal was unsucessful surprise surprise !! Currently have a request under freedom of information as to how many appeals are actually successful. Should make interesting reading :)

Think medicfar means is, if first class are starting in ballinaloe in oct, will they start the second in Dublin soon after and have 2 classes running together. . .

Rumours are that the second class will start after christmas. (again only rumours)

medical is just height/weight/BMI/BP, general health check, normally a cardiovascular risk screen, a few questionnaires you have to fill out, bloods (i was fasting so got my fasting bloods done but this isn't necessary) and on your merry way again.

Anyone have any info on the rumour that "ambulance drivers" are to be recruited in the east of the country for patient transfers. I know i'll be struck down for the use of the above phrase but I'm relaying the story as I heard it. Apparently recruitment will be run locally, dont know if theres any truth in any of it but it came from someone with HSE in Carlow/Kilkenny.
