Hi everyone, the title says it all really..

I am a pipe smoker and would like to start carving my own pipes.. Seeing as I cannot afford briar wood I must try to source cherry wood instead but alas I have not had much luck so far.

Does anyone have any idea where I can obtain blocks of cherry wood for carving either in the waterford city area or anywhere in Ireland even..?

PS: Due to the property requirements for pipe wood, it must be cherry wood as this has been tried and tested and is safe to use.

    Thanks in advance..

    Simon.

What you are actually looking for are called blanks. If you could be more specific I can make blanks in various sizes
out of the logs. Also do you require them Kiln dried. 4 inch square cherry would be dearer due to the length of time it takes to dry due to its thickness..

Hi, thanks for the info, I'm not sure of the terminology yet..

Well the 7 inch logs appeal to me so is it possible to get a few 4" cuts from one of them, (so it would be 7 x 4).

    I don't need them dried..

If this is possible could you pm me to discuss the finer details please.

Thanks for getting back to me..

I have still not received a PM from you..

I tried to PM you and while it didn't tell me the message had failed, it also didn't tell me the message was sent either so if you have sent me a pm then perhaps you could relay it here as I have not received anything..

    Thanks..
