Well I only just started, DrP plays anyway, anyone else who wants to join in send me the xbox live id and I'll do an add to my friend list.

I'm doing a bit of work from home these days so am easily distracted by xboxen.

Also I made a blog, I hope everyone has clicked the link by now ;)

    Click.

Just went back to XBL and BF:BC(Great Game) myself. Bad plan as 6th year is approaching, but what can you do.

Got a HMV voucher so I'm gonna get some points and get 43, what size is it anyone know? Gotta clean up that drive. And fix our NAT settings, no parties or private chat right now :(

    PMing gamertag.

    Going to Electric Picnic.

Trying to guess what's the one absolutely vital piece of camping equipment I will inevitably forget this year. I've already done sleeping bag and shoes* on previous years.

    * I had wellies, but failed to account for the fact that I was staying there for seven days and by then they'd started to shear off my ankles.

    Plane > Sherman.

BF:BC, great game, the rare time you have a decent connection and the game isn't laggy as hell....

When's BF:BC2 do you know? I had the date, but forgot at this stage..

    Ak-Ak *Cough cough*

Rarely get lag in BFBC now, though when it was released I think it was a problem.

You can prebook BC2 already, means you get a free '74S in multiplayer I think. Leveling is easy anyways, so its just a gimmick:)

Please don't insult PC's. My 5 year old backup pc would have better graphics than that xbox thing.

I think for a lot of people it's just too much time and money and effort to keep their PC high spec enough to run the latest games, with an Xbox or PS you know that for the next 3 -4 years every game that comes out will run without having to shell out any more cash on a new system. Sure a top end PC is a far more powerful games running device, but seriously, we all grew up with fecking segas and nes systems, Xbox and PS graphics are plenty good for me, plus I personally find Xbox Live to be a fantastic online multiplayer platform, I do miss multiplayer games with 50+ people though, if only I didn't spend all my cash on airsoft, maybe I too could afford a decent gaming PC. On the plus side Xbox keeps me away from the brain sucking digital parasites that are MMOs, I mean think about it! I could end up like DOC (only not quite so repulsive looking ;))

I know this is OTM and as such this discussion is allowed, but it might be best avoided.

My current problem is that consoles are coming closer and closer to PCs, and will very soon start inheriting the compatibility and bug issues of full spec machines. My Xbox just works, simple as. I'm a big nerd myself and I love PCs but they can be a pain in hole some times. With my 360 I hit the button, it comes on, I click game, 10 seconds later I'm in. Press like 3 buttons, thousands of tracks of "Battle Music" are streamed to my console in the background as I play. Simple and easy. Anyone who wants more than the tri-core beast that is the 360 fails to realise how little that 30 extra pixels matters.

Also, get a "Chatpad", they are really handy and improve the feel of the controller in my eyes(or hands):)

I bought my 360 over a year ago, and new games that come out are designed with its capabilities in mind, so I wont need a new gfx card or anything, its very pick up and play.

A gaming rig is a pricey affair, so consoles are cheap and cheerful, so suit me down to the ground in that regard.

PC's can come up with all the graphics power they like, its not graphics that make it a hit. its playability. if PC gaming was really as good as its made out it would be in the majority. 360 for me, k tnx bye :)

Its why I'll never sell my N64!

PC games aren't in the majority simply because people are lazy. It takes a bit more effort to use PC games due to installations, patches, updates etc, and the fast-food chompers of the current generation aren't arsed with waiting around. They want everything 5 minutes ago, which is also the reason why good games have become few and far between, and why so many others have been dumbed down so heavily to appeal to those wanting a quick fix.

There isn't a single game on a console I want to play that I can't get for a PC. Now, part of that is down, simply, to the fact that I generally play RTS games, that I hate playing FPS games with anything but a keyboard and mouse (say what you like, thumbsticks will never replace a mouse for easy movement) and that I never liked third-person games. The other part is that having it on my PC means I can tweak it to how I want, playing a game across three projectors to have a 60ft wide screen for example.
All the best experiences I've had playing games on consoles ended with the N64 and all the best multiplayer experiences I've had have been on PC's.

Each to their own, but there's a reason for both. Consoles will never replace PC's, nor will PC's ever repel consoles. I have an Xbox 360 in the house and the only games I own for it are Madden, NHL and Rugby. Anything else I want, I can get for my PC and a lot more besides.

Mouse point: When will MS cop on and allow support for a keyboard and mouse in game? Screw gamepads/controllers.

Yeah, whats up with 3rd person, I hate it but I don't know why.

Are you using 3 projectors together? Never dawned on me that that could be done, but it makes sense. I doubt I'll get dad to splash for another two, wall is too small anyways. If you have a pic of you're setup please post if for the rest of us to drool over:)

Its a boring cliche to claim consoles are for lazy people.

I don't want to spend a grand on a PC which will be obsolete in a year for the newest games which can render even more grass!

I've seen arma II on a super duper quad core blah bidity blah water cooled hole in the wallet.

I buy an xbox, I get 3 or so years gaming with games that are designed for those graphics, and are cheap.

Its not lazy, its just good sense most of the time.

BF1943, cost me 12 squid on a 2-3 year old (how long has the 360 been out?) and the graphics suit me fine. By comparison the latest patch for arma II saw a 1000 euro or so machine playing worse than n64 graphics yesterday (not my machine) and tbh, I'll not be forking out for the latest million GFX ultra core PC any time soon, for the literally months of gaming pleasure I'd get out of it

If you have a PC thats good, more power to ye, but ye may as well throw a bit of g&g snobbery at dboys by the equivalent airsoft measure.

I have a computer to run AutoCAD, Photoshop, sketch up and any other program I need to do my work.
When I want to chill out with a stupid computer game I'll take the easy option, and for a leasure activity, doesn't that make more sense?

    Tl;dr

Pc's are grand if you are into that, but don't say I'm lazy because I don't obsess over the bloody things.

Wasn't my set-up. Belongs to a rather loaded friend of mine. The three screen thing was a once off really, but it's set up in a dedicated room with two HD projectors now. It's primarily a cinema rig for him, along with the 7.2 sound system, but he has a fair few games on it too. It's rather impressive playing CoH on a screen taking up an entire side of a room, floor to ceiling, just as impressive watching a movie.

Third person makes sense in some situations, like Assasins Creed and Splinter Cell, where the perspective is to allow certain gameplay dynamics to be used. I'm still not hugely fond of it.
