I remember I read a story here or heard of off someone that some fella got clamped so he had this idea of putting super glue in the lock, so when yer man came along to open it he couldn't and if they cant open it in less than a certain amount of time you don't pay, so he got off scot free !

If you can open it without damaging it then you get off free to, since the charge isnt a fine, its a release fee. all you have to do i pick it and lock it to something else or call yore man down and when he gets there, hand it to him and drive off. :D
imagine the look on his face.

There are a whole range of models that a clamp wont fit on IIRC. Do they bother to tow you if they cant clamp you d'ya know?

nah they only tow if if its parked unsafely, they clamp it otherwise. even when they do tow your car they usually just leave it a few streets away with a clamp on it instead of storing it safely.

So your a locksmith and a clamper comes along and spots a your van parked so decides to clamp it, do you ring them up and fork out 90 quid release fee or do you pick the lock without damaging it and clamp it to the nearest pole...
Aswell as getting a funny photo out of it.. :D

I know what i'd do if it was me, and i could pick locks obviously.

Instinct would take over. You'd steal the clamp, obviously, and go joy-clamping.

From what I've heard they are a load of balls, the lock above was picked by hand and took 45 mins to open. nothin like in the movies huh. :D
I'm actually getting a set of picks and learning the art out of curiosity.

Being able to pick locks would be so useful.... if you were a stalker.

One of the guys I work with is a sodding genius with picking locks. He made his own picks rather than buying any. He's offered to show me the basics of it but I've never had time to take him up on it. It's an art-form in itself.

I've tried picking small locks in the Splinter Cell style but I can't find where to plug my Xbox controller into the door or padlock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Just tried a PlayStation controller too, still no joy. The door is made from Canadian maple, maybe it's NTSC?

hook it up to a lcd tv then it dosent matter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

I would but my door doesn't have HDMI or component either.

Actually, I'm beginning to think this is a silly idea. Maybe I should just get a key.

Rotate the door knob clockwise until you hear a click dex, then go the other way.

on the note of HDMI,those PS3s are bastards when it comes to scart leads,
There 2 weeks ago i brought my PS3 down to my Nannys and connected it up with a normal AV scart with the red, white and yellow wires and it wouldnt work on her telly which is not a LCD or Plasma its just a normal 28'' one.
Aparently you have to go into the display settings and swich it from 1080i or p (i cant remember) to normal scart.so in stead of playing Quantum of Solace i end up have to watch Judge Judy:mad:

But you really do notice the difference from a Samsung LCD to a normal 28'' BlackDiamond telly in terms of screen quality.

You have to put your finger on the power button for 5 seconds when you connect the scart connection to reset the display settings and the scart will work:)

+1, it's a git if you've never had to do it before though!

    It's Jonathan Coulton but hotter!

That song is actually surprisingly catchy, which is a good thing. It means give Doc stick about WoW will be even easier. As if it wasn't like shooting fish in a barrel with a MOAB already...
