Ok my first Marathon will hopefully be completed 26th October and my training starts at 6 in the morning. I figured out how to use the tripometer in the car and on the way to the shops earier I used it. From where I'm staying to the local shops is exactly 1 mile so I plan to run there and back in the morning before work. I know 2 miles is only a short run but I will be playing an hours football tomorrow evening also. I have never timed my runs before and I amn't properly equiped to do so yet so I will just time the two miles with stop watch on my phone and get a rough idea of how I have done.

2 miles in 15 minutes is quite fast. My advice is to keep the pace steady as you do your mileage, you shouldn't be racing everytime you go out or trying to set a PB. Slow and steady will build up your endurance while keeping injury risk low. Leave the PB's for the races!!

I'm amatuer ! believe me I won't always run 2 miles in 15 mins. If I manage to do the marathon it will be my first so this is also my first time training. I'm at the end of the first wk now and did OK. The 2 miles on Tues as I said but also 1hr 45mins of football that evening. I rested Wednesday and played 1hr 45 mins football on Thurs which would equal 2 or 3 mile run. I rested Friday and did a 4 mile yesterday in 38 mins. I'v slipped up already , I was to do 4 mile again today but didn't :( sort of have an excuse moving into 1st house 2moro so had alot to do today

It's been two months since I posted here and not because I gave up on the training but had no internet access. The training for my 1st marathon is going quite well. I finished the 5 mile in Phoenix park last month in 47 mins and the 10 mile today in 1hr 37 mins. Looking forward to the half marathon now next month. I am new to running and have always played soccer so have to say I find running to be a lonely sport ! ! ! But enjoyable all the same
