We've been on Analogue Chorus/NTL/UPC whatever they are now for yonks, got a new HD TV recently and decided it's about time to get some more channels and go digital (but not HD necessarily) at least.
But there's lots of options available!

-How is the UPC Bargain Deal?
-Is Sky any better/ cheaper/ have more channels?
-What are the disadvantages of the Freeview or Freesat things (for example I know you can't get all the channels but can you pay a little extra for them)?
-Is satellite better still than any cable option?

We have 3 analogue points in the house paying extra for the two upstairs but really only interested in the digital for the main TV and keep the upstairs ones as they are...

Any advice or experience would be great. :)

Sky typically is considered slightly better (better equipment, etc.) but not by much.

Sky would end up being a lot more expensive in your case, just getting UPC digital would be a lot cheaper.

You are currently paying €24.50 per month for UPC. If you get the Bargain Deal it will only go up to €27.50 per month and you get extra digital channels + a DVR and one HD channel (BBC HD). You get to keep your analogue points up stairs.

If you go Sky, the cheapest package is €21.50, but then you'd either have to continue paying UPC €24.50 for the two points up stairs or pay Sky an extra €30 per month for multiroom!! So a lot more expensive.

Unless you live in the border regions Freeview won't work for you.

Freesat is nice, offers lots of free channels including all the BBC, C4, ITV channels amongst others. However no, you can't pay for extra channels on Freesat, without signing up to Sky.
