help wanted setting up inet on pc

    Hi
    hope somebody can help , bassically my desktop pc was giving trouble so i decided to restore to factory setting (restore cd )
    it is an e machine that never gave trouble for 6 years

    can anyone tell me how to get the inet working
    i am an bt cust with 8 meg broad band
