Is it recommended to join mains cable and what is the best way to do this(strip connectors) I have seen loose neutrals with insulation melted joined before but is this good practice.Other than run in new mains cable there is probably nothing else that could be done.opinions please .Thanks

This can be a good way alright. The better ones use straight through crimp connections.

I have used a suitable isolator to do it in the past.
This solution does not always suit.

Its never really recommended to joint cables inside but its done. You could get a 100amp connector block, cheaper then a sub joint. If you can i would put in a new run

i use line taps u get a great connection with them but if they are 2 big id just go with the scotch cast set

as above.line tap should be good i'd say .good contact and suitable enclosure are the priority anyhow
