    thank you magicass

    February

    Passion laid out and lilting
on dry wind tilting away the sea's cold
sleeps the role spooling over toil
    and bleached blankets cover all.

    Onward scrawl in records kept
of debt before we fell asleep
and forgot how to be awake.
Days turn for their own sake.

I remember my clawed foot bath tub
when I live in the old grounds keeper shack behind the church.
When the hot water spigot would no longer pass hot water,
I constructed a cascading fountain from the sink to the tub
out of tiered embossed frame aluminum serving trays.

    tilting trays across an aisle
    filling in over cracking tile
Why did I build this route?
I only wanted a hand to pour the heat into
words transmorphed from emilie autumn "let the record show"

    as nails click past,
    the arrow flicks
    the colonmed rail
    around the wheel.

    up until, the spinning stops
to reveal, where the arrow fell
    between two nails, a notch

    The technical things about riggers
is riggers and pulling the strings.
They furl out the sails of the frigate
    and capture wind under wings.
They tie the ropes to guild the boats
    on capricious winds.
The most important thing about riggers is
our voyage is in their hands.

Riggers are rugged from rope work.
Riggers stand sure on their feet.
They climb in the nets high above deck
as the wind cuts at their checks.

    The technical things about riggers
is looping the rope across spools
dividing a foot of hard labor
by each loop involved in the pull
to lift the weight of heavy freight
    on the other end!
The most wonderful thing about Riggers is
    the cargo they suspend.

    thanks
here's an old one I'm reposting for synergy

    Wild Card September 21, 2007, 02:09:am

    BATS!

    sitting at a tavern table,
I tilted back to shield my cards
I had a pair of sevens
with jack high and two discard

The dealer looked at me and frowned
as if she knew I had a pair
And flipped two pictures facing down
as I learned back upon my chair

I pulled the new cards to my hand
and tumbled back from double take
Sprawled on the floor, I checked again
One of the cards was completely blank

Thinking, “should I show my hand
and expose this rift in the game?”
How the blank had gotten in,
I would not be able to explain

    I left the tavern early
    I had to get away
    I folded out my findings
and left the card in play

    Skinny dipping

As water currents course across the open skin
sensation brings dimension of the body that I am.
With the range of motion unfettered by any bind,
I have greater interaction with the environment I find.

    traveling in June

the days are long and bright
and the light shows a road to ride upon
while we can sleep through short cool nights

    TAR PIT

    drawls warmth underneath the sun
melts to a liquid sticky gum
you're sinking slowing in a fuming pit
    of stinking fossil fuel

struggling won't do you any good
you'll get stuck further in its hold
it gives in underneath your strength
to pull you further in the pool

The tar pits got you now
    and pulls you underground
to where you can not breath,
    your body's going down
    to harden in a mold
    forever underneath

    Over the falls

    Rapids rumbled over the ridge
    yawning silent.
The waters slip through the thin wind
    sparking sunlight
until the crash on craggy rocks.
    A roar rises.

    this thread is brilliant.

I've just read through a whole batch of the stuff you've posted here and it's wonderfully written.

I can't understand why there aren't more comments from other contributers.

Keep posting - you have an amazing way with words.

Here is one I wrote 22 years ago

I was sitting neath the shade of the apple tree
whose leaves were whispering to me
as no one else was around, I'm sure the tree
    must have been addressing me

    When along walks this girl
    in golden curl
and a dress as blue as the sky
    Oh, not that day
    the sun had lain sick
grey wool covers pulled over its eye
The girl obviously was out to display
what she thought the weather should be that day

she looked upon me and blinked once or twice
missing moments in time in between
    then she spoke

    "Hello"

    'Hello' thought I
    why didn't she say 'Hi'?

    thanks

    bombs scour and screech
    a blizzard of meat
    mismeasure the margin
    sacrifice citizens
    the ease of explosion
    to erase all exception
    destructions too easy
    quick energy eruptions

    keep constructive synergy
    propel the peoples prodigy
focus on a world to feed
    quit creating unquenched need

when I was younger and with another,
we never bothered to look forward
    we wander together fingers tethered
    parks and levees explored
    no need for dreams endured

step over cracks with kept rhythm track
stop to step back to correct the list tack
gonna take a while when I make a half mile
switching up styles to finish that trial

Dreams of the Last Butterflies is a unique vision with a powerful environmental message, full of wonder, dreams, and otherworldly performers.
