MDS cable pre installed in new houses ?

My girlfriend is about to move into a new estate and was looking to get freeview installed . The house is a first letting.
When she phoned an installer ( French dude with poor English) he was asking from what I gather if there is a MDS cable already in the house.The landlord didn't know .When I plug in the tv there is nothing.

Its probbaly a silly question but how would you know if its there ?

There is no Freeview in Ireland. Freesat is possible but you'd need a dish.

For MMDS to work, you would need to call UPC to get a digital decoder.

Would UPC need to install an MDS cable ? The installer said he installs a box and we get all the UK channels some sports and movies as well. The sports come from Spainish tv so I would be able to watch premiership etc. It could be Free Sat . Theres no monlthy rental anyways after installation.

Yeah that'd be Freesat or Free to air satelitte, you would need a dish.

For MMDS they'd just need to install a box.

No it's just cable. They're totally different technologies. You can only get MMDS from UPC. You just need a box and a dish for Free to air satelliet. One off payment.
