Rather noisy, but good god the amount of time I spent trying to get the metering right. Either the sky was coming out as a pure white mess or everything that wasn't the sky was black.

That sounds like a perfect call for exposure bracketting to get hdr, but by god you did a great job there. I'm guessing you underexposed and then brightened the dark areas in pp?
