I really really want these shoes....they are amazingly girly!

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Sidi_Ladies_Genius_5_Pro_Road_Cycling_Shoe/5360037995/

    A few questions:
    1. I'm a UK size 6, which is 39. This just happens to be the only size they don't have in stock and they've discontinued this shoe. Anyone (preferably girls) know what sidi shoe sizes are like? They have 38 and 40 in stock. Anywhere in Dublin stock ladies sidi shoes so i could try on for size?

    2. Are these shoes actually any good? From what I hear Sidi are a good brand. :P (Ref: Euro rules)

    3. Yay or nay on the girly-ness? (I think I know what the replies will be on this!)

    4. Any chance people have seen these anywhere else?

    I prefer this Sidi T2:

    Unfortunately it's a triathlon shoe.

edit: on sizing, I wouldn't buy a cycling shoe that I hadn't tried on, unless the retailer had a suitable returns policy. Sidis are a bit odd.

They are purdy too. My bike is blue so thought i'd try match in a little!

Go to a bike shop and look for these shoes. Try them on. If they are cheaper online, buy them online. You'll have already tried them on so you'll know they fit.

Don't assume cycling shoes will fit just like runners. Normally, I'm size 10/44, but in my Specialized Comp shoes I'm 11/45.

Maybe a trip out Cycle Super Store is in order. From their website they only stock mens sidi shoes...i have no idea if there will be any difference in sizing in sidi ladies shoes.

Sidi sizes tend to run a bit small and you're generally recommended to go a size up (i.e. a 40 for you) compared to a regular shoe. If you really like the look of them and don't mind the hassle of sending them back to Wiggle if they don't fit (maybe check their returns policy before ordering) then I'd order them and see how the fit is. I was trying on the men's equivalent over the weekend and I don't think you'd be disappointed with the quality.

I don't think Sidis run small; I have the same size Sidi and Specialized and the latter are known as a big shoe if anything. The Sidis are maybe narrower, but not otherwise smaller, jury is still out on whether they are too narrow but a size up would definitely be too big for me forward-back.

Phone first. They're a bit low on lots of stuff at the moment, regardless of what the website says, and their stock of Sidis is limited.

Well, I was trying them on the past weekend (yes, yes, I am abandoning clips and straps on the road bike...the REK 400 was too much) and I was told in one shop that they size small and that I would probably need a size larger than my street shoes. This proved to be spot on. The old Sidi touring shoes I had back in the day were much the same story as I recall.

I think that sort of goes for all cycling shoes though, trainers too for that matter... I am generally 44/44.5 in street shoes but 45 in Sidi/Specialized, 45-46 in Shimano and I think 46 in Asics trainers (I have not been running in a while.) Point is Sidi are not small as cycling shoes go. I tried on Mavic (formerly Adidas) and they were substantially smaller around the toe area for the 45.

Also bear in mind cycling shoes are meant to be tight, you want to be able to get them so you can wiggle your toe but you have no other foot movement in the shoe whatsoever. The idea is that when you move your foot, the shoe moves with it and similarly the pedal.

Congrats on moving to a clipless system rottenhat, we will have you decked out in a white spandex skinsuit before you know it!

They're pretty :) go for it.
I like the sidis. I have a pair but I am not wearing them this year's they're a bit too narrow. I got a pair of nike that are more confortable. I'd like a pair of white Mavic or Louis Garneau ... maybe next season.

I have broad feet and a high instep, and normally have to go up at least one size with Sidi. However their "Mega" sizes do cater for wider feet, and I presonally find them a much better fit (unfortunately they only seem to do the Mega sizes across a relatively small number of their designs)

These are just for you Lyders, Fibreglass reinforced for extra stiffness, SPD cleat compatible ;)

Mavic are narrower than Sidi I reckon, worth bearing in mind. I do like the aesthetics though, especially the yellow ones.

I have quite wide feet myself and wonder whether I should have got the mega... However I am doing OK with the current ones, after a few hundred km they seem to have got more comfortable.

I know I should really start a new thread but how do people find Gaerne shoes? Bit big, bit small or just right size wise compared to normal street sizing? I have slightly wider-than-normal feet.

So that ad running on Eurosport is effective?

Am I the only one who thinks that pro-cyclists sitting around playing spin the bottle sidi is a bit fecking odd? Maybe it plays differently to the continentals but to me it all seems a bit rule 52.

I love that ad, I love SIDIs...guess it does work.

I ordered size 40 and they fit like a glove, i'm very happy!

Also found a cheaper website than Wiggle, so was even happier with the cheaper price!

I'm with you on that. Well, not with you.

Call me naive, but the "spin the bottle" connection didn't occur to me until Tom pointed it out.
