printing from illustrator query

    hi

    illustrator cs3 on leopard

    I have a banner image that is 4 A3 sheets long (168cm x 29.7cm)

    I need to export it to a pdf so it can be printed across 4 (or 5) A3 sheets.

    I've changed the page setup to a3 size and tried the tile full pages option but can only set the overlap to 8pt, anything bigger and it adds more pages.
    Even at 8pt it's taking 5 pages.

    However, the overlap is not enough and when the pages are joined parts of it (the joinings) are missing.

    I need to have it so there's about 1cm of overlapping between the pages - the printed pages can then be cut & joined to appear like a seamless image

    Does anyone know how to sort this out?

    attached is an example of what I'm trying to do...

    Make sure you can see page tiling (View>Show Page Tiling)

    Find the "Hand Tool" in your Tool Palette which is at the bottom left beside "Magnify Tool".

    Click the tiny black corner which reveals the "Page Tool". You can now manually move this around your artwork and wherever you leave it that area will print.

    Google "page Tool + illustrator" and you may find more visual help.
