sonos system

half thinkin of sellin my new sonos system as i dont know if i could be bothered setting it up,and just moved to new house which it was bought for and cant get broadband.its all brand new and boxed only came out to check everything was there..i have cr100 controller,a zonebridge,2 zp120's and a zp90..any interest? have two sets of ceiling speakers too

surely you can get some type of broadband or it won't be long before you can... you paid way over the odds for that too btw. got mine for a lot less than that from the US and no transformer needed as it's built in you can use all over the world

it's a savage system and easy to set up to be honest.... can point you in the right direction if you have a change of heart!

The sonos is, imho, the best system in it's class, and paired with some great 2.1 speakers the sound is brilliant. I would try keep it if I was you, you could set up everything you have there in under an hour! It really is easy - and broadband is only required for the internet radio and file updates....

IIRC broadband (internet) is required to set it up initially.

Yup, unless the software is out of sync between the controllers, zoneplayers and/or zonebridges and your pc software then you don't necessarily need broadband unless you want internet radio.
You can set up the shares for your stored music on the hand held controller. Just a bit more cumbersome to do so.

Oh and new CR200 touch screen controller out end of this month!

You do, becuase the system has to register itself with Sonos and update the firmware. If the firmware is the same on all pieces of kit including desktop software out of the box then you can choose not to register the product, however you are not eligible for the updates then. But, it is possible to install the system with no broadband whatsoever as I have done it many times. Chances are though that there is usually one piece of kit with a slightly different firmware and that's when you need access to broadband to update firmware.

Have to agree on the new controller! The scrollwheel on the original was what sold it to a lot of people. Very ipod-ish!
The new controller is, as you said, no different to the software for iphone/ipod touch.
I will wait and see when it comes out! They have done very little wrong so far Sonos!!

LADS I HAVE TRIED A COUPLE OF TIMES TO SET THIS UP WITH NO BROADBAND WITH NO JOY AS FAR AS I KNOW IT HAS TO SET UP AT LEAST ONCE THROUGH THE WEB...IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME HOW TO BYPASS THIS IM ALL EARS!!!!! (ooops sorry about the caps)
