Hi, first time poster but regular visitor on Boards...

I am currently working as as Electrical and Instrument Engineer in the pharma sector in Dublin having completed BE Electrical Engineering 4 years ago.

I am hoping to change roles and get into the Energy sector, possible renewable energy line or electricity supply to future proof myself career wise. I have spoken with some companies who state I do not have the correct HV experience even though they are hiring and I recon that I have strong LV experience... Chicken and Egg can't get experience without securing job...

    Any advise?
    Part time/online HV course possibly?

I am hoping to move out of Dublin and head south direction over the next 2/3 years hence the need to change ...I want to leave Pharma, me thinks their days are numbered in the country...

    Thanks...
    Sparktest

By HV I presume you mean HVAC?

Regardless, heres a good course to get you started:

    http://www.lit.ie/DEPARTMENTS/ElectronicEng/LC781.html

Its a Bsc. If you want a BEng, there the only way into the renewable energy sector with this Qualification is "Energy Engineering" at UCC, GMIT and some others

Thanks DM but have BEng already - just wondering if it is worth my while completing a part time/online High Voltage [HV] or similar energy course...

You can do the above course in part time. Not sure if ive ever heard of "High Voltage" courses.

    Check out

    www.qualifax.ie

This has EVERY course on the island, north and south. Should find your answers there. Good hunting!

Forgot to mention, electrical engineering (high voltage) at CIT and UCC
