I would'nt go near any of them. They are cheap knock offs of a cheap knock off brand called Smartech - from what I can see.

You would be far better looking for a brand such as
    Traxxas
    HPI
    CEN
    Team Associated
    Losi
    Carson
    (and many more)

I will go looking for a car in a few and see what I can come up with. Modelsport.co.uk and Towerhobbies.com are both 2 good online retailers.

PS: Save yourself all the hassle and swap your complete computer setup for my (2 cars and 2 heli's) RC's :D

Not really :( They brake easy and when they do, Spares can be hard to get. The engines are hard to get running and when they are and tuned they will loose their tune.
I have a Traxxas Rustler, very durable. And upgrades and spares are everywhere. Cost me about 230 delivered from Modelsport.co.uk last Christmas I think.

    Hold on a sec..
    He is in Galway
so is >> click me for modelworld <<

Now. I would suggest you head into model world in Galway and enquire about a good second hand Buggy/Truggy
The lads from there head over to Navan fairly regularly to race and they also have their own track in Galway so much fun to be had.

Look for a secong Hyper 7 or GV Rex-X or Losi buggy. something along those lines. You will get much more value and quality out of a second hand one of those over a new one of what you looked at.
    Also
Nitro is the way to go seeing as you alrready have a track in the area. ;)

Definitely call up to us for a chat on Sunday at Mother Hubbards on the N6 between Oranmore and Craughwell between 10.30 and 14.30 where the track is located we will be racing on road with nitro buggy's for about 3 months while we renovate the off-road track, modelworld are also selling Kyosho Fazer 1/10th on road nitro cars very cheaply at the moment,

    Regards,

With the Galway Club on your doorstep (great bunch of guys) I'd be looking to get yourself a 1:8 buggy.

With your budget I think second hand might be your best option. Darren or Bernd from the Galway Club I'm sure could help you source a good starter car. I'd recommend you go for a well known brand as you will find it easier to source parts should and when you break them (and you will!!). Model World are Kyosho agents which is one of the world's leading rc brands. Other advantage of going with a well known brand is there is a good chance someone else will have one and should you get into trouble on race day you can help each other out.

    Oisin

Galway model centre Kyosho Fazer will do about 30mph and its around €220 with delivery and two quarts of fuel and parts off ebay are cheap. Not only that its tough and easy to repair, my first machine I would advise it. Now im buying a Traxxas T-maxx expensivish but a guy close to me deals in them solely so not a prob for parts and easy tune. My choice for a noob truck.
