    yes its the 500D ..

    nice ISO expansion , and the HD video is a nice addition too, a great buy for a 1st DSLR..

    Great camera by the look of it. I like the ISO upgrade. But the flash doesn't do it for me, unfortunately.

    The flash doesn't do it for you, based on aesthetics?! Seems like a trivial gripe. I'm sure Canon R&D put a lot of time into the re-design for a reason.

    Doesn't mean everyone likes them. Cameras are a matter of personal taste (or gripe as you so eloquently put it). What may appeal to you may not necessarily appeal to others - and vice-versa. And yes - manufacturers (even Canon) do make mistakes, believe it or not.;)
