VOIP + Irish Number + US

Ok, here's the situation and I'm looking for advice.

I'm moving to the US, I currently have a billpay Irish mobile that I'll most likely switch to pre-pay when I leave (o2).

I'd like to get an Irish number (076 or otherwise, I don't mind) for Skype (or other service) In so family and friends can call without worrying about long distance charges.

I'm looking to get an iPhone over there, so with the Skype client (if it'll work for Skype In) it'd be sweet. I'll also have skype in work/home laptop.

What's the best set-up?

Also, can you set your o2 phone to forward all calls to the other Irish number (076) so I can get them through Skype even if someone calls me on my old mobile number?

As far as I am aware Eircom regards 076 numbers to be outside their "packages" and so charges the dialler at standard rates from start. It is something your Irish callers should be aware of if phoning from a landline -- don't know about other suppliers like BT etc.

In your situation I would not use Skype at all, but use someone like Blueface, get an 076 number and a suitable SIP phone - software or hardware. They will also allow a second 076 number on the account which can be used by someone in Ireland and then get free calls between both.
Of course just about all other VOIP accounts will be able to call the 076 number for free (except Skype I think).
