You can buy them in PCworld or Maplin

    See www.pinouts.ru search rs232

Found this on another site, what do you think?

I know you can buy them but making your own is just more fun.......I think

    thanks again

That is a "straight" cable", not a null modem. Works between a Modem and PC.

9 pin and 25 pin have pin 2 & 3 the opposite way around. A NULL modem cable must cross over all the signals

    9 pin to 9pin
    2 --> 3
    3<-- 2
    5 ---5 (ground)
    4 --- 6+1
    6+1 -- 4
    7 -- 8
    8 -- 7

    9pin to 25pin
Null modem DSUB9 to DSUB25 cable
    	D-Sub 9 D-Sub 25
Receive Data	2	2	Transmit Data
Transmit Data	3	3	Receive Data
    D T R 4	6+8	Data Set Ready + Carrier Detect
System Ground	5	7	System Ground
    D S R 6+1	20	Data Terminal Ready
Request to Send	7	5	Clear to Send
Clear to Send	8	4	Request to Send

However simpler wiring may work (handshake looped back)
    9 __ 25
    2 -- 2
    3 -- 3
    5 -- 7

    on 25 tie
    6,8,20
    4,5

    on 9pin tie
    7,8
    1,4,6

Lidl advertising a HDMI box for €49.99 from next Monday.
Just to be sure, you can view High Definition channels with this box, can't you?

No, its hdmi ok but that does not always mean it gives HD . Seems like good value at the price though

The HDMI is a gimmick. No HD on this lidl Box.

Any DECENT TV will give as good a picture via RGB Scart. If you can afford a decent HDTV, then you should think about a real HD pvr like the Humax.

Just on the subject of the Silvercrest lidl box, I have 2 of them one from 3+ years ago the other from 2 year ago.
I had a slight issue with the older one when trying to view the Heineken Cup Final on France 2, in that it seems not to get the channels from the Amos/Atlantic at 5degrees (only 2 globecast test cards) - now since i have a dual LNB , the other box got the french channels no problem. It gets stations, on 13, 19.2 and 28.2, ok.

Thanks thats what I was thinking,
is the dish allright in its current position (to recieve the SKY channels) ie. will I be able to pick up all the same Freesat channels that I have saved in the SKY box under "Other Channels", using the Silvercrest box from lidl?

Yes you will receive all the free channels available and can move them to any number that you wish...eg Channel 5 onto no5 on the box and so on ...
